Customer Notice

To protect the privacy and safety of our customers and staff, and to safeguard confidential business and vehicle information, the following policy applies to all vehicles brought onto our premises for servicing, inspection, diagnosis or repair.

1. Dashcams and In-Vehicle Recording Devices

All dashcams and other audio or visual recording devices fitted to a vehicle must be switched off or disconnected before the vehicle enters the service process.
Customers are requested to ensure that recording functions are disabled where reasonably practicable.
Where necessary, our staff may disable or disconnect a dashcam or other recording device as part of the vehicle check-in or service process.

2. Recording Within Our Premises

Midway Ford prohibits customers, visitors and other persons from making audio or visual recordings inside our business premises without prior approval from management.

This includes recording by:

dashcams and vehicle-mounted cameras;
mobile phones and other cameras;
audio recording devices; and
other optical, audio or surveillance devices.

This policy applies because activities and conversations occurring within our premises may involve private customer information, personal information, confidential business information, vehicle diagnostic information, and private conversations between customers and staff.

3. Privacy and Surveillance Devices Legislation

This policy is intended to support our privacy obligations and compliance with applicable Western Australian laws, including the Surveillance Devices Act 1998 (WA).

The Act regulates the recording of private conversations and private activities in certain circumstances. The Act defines a “private activity” as an activity carried out in circumstances where it may reasonably be understood that a party wants the activity to be observed only by themselves, subject to the statutory exceptions.

Accordingly, customers and visitors must not assume that they have permission to record conversations, activities, staff or other customers while on our premises.

4. Customer Cooperation

By presenting a vehicle for service, customers consent that any dashcam or other invehicle recording device is turned off or disconnected before service commences.

We appreciate your cooperation in protecting the privacy of our customers, staff and business operations.

This policy does not limit any rights or obligations that apply under Australian or Western Australian law.
